Habitat 67 was designed by architect Moshe Safdie as an experimental housing project for Expo 67, Montréal’s International and Universal Exposition. Its innovative design explored how the privacy, gardens and outdoor spaces of suburban homes could be combined with the density of urban apartment living.
Expo 67 was held from April to October 1967 as the centrepiece of Canada’s centennial celebrations. Habitat 67 remains one of the event’s most recognizable architectural legacies and an internationally admired Montréal landmark. Parks Canada
